A REAL UK SELF BUILD JOURNEY
Your self-build explained
Following our own self build,
we explain the process step by
step – simply, honestly,
and practically.
We’re building too!
Building your own home is exciting. Knowing where to start—and what comes next—can feel overwhelming.
We’re a family in the North East of England taking on our own self-build, without a background in the building trade. Along the way, we’ve faced setbacks, untangled confusing advice and learned lessons we wish someone had explained at the start.
That’s why we created Plot & Gable: to share our experience and make the process easier to understand. Through honest stories, practical guidance and clear explanations, we’ll help you approach your own self-build with greater confidence—one step at a time.
